Introduction
Video EEG examination
at your doorstep
As the only private facility in Poland, we specialize in conducting 24-hour Video EEG examinations at the patient’s home.
Additionally, we also offer extended examinations, including 12-hour studies. This innovative service is available for individuals of all ages – from infants to seniors. Application of Video EEG
at your doorstep
Video EEG examination in a home setting is particularly recommended for patients with mobility limitations, including individuals with disabilities, chronically ill patients, bedridden patients, those who have undergone amputations, and those who use wheelchairs. For these groups, visiting a medical facility can pose significant logistical and transportation challenges.
This examination is also recommended for patients whose change in environment may trigger anxiety responses or exacerbate existing functional disorders. This particularly applies to infants, young children, individuals with autism spectrum disorders, and patients with anxiety disorders.
Video EEG examination conducted at home is especially recommended in the following cases:
Frequent seizure incidents:
The primary indication for conducting a Video EEG examination at home is the occurrence of frequent seizure events, observed no less than once a day. This is especially important in patients with uncertainties regarding the nature and cause of the disturbances.Insufficient response to treatment:
The examination is also indicated for individuals who do not respond satisfactorily to the treatment applied, meaning there is no significant improvement in health status or reduction in the frequency of seizures. It is also recommended for patients whose seizure frequency increases despite treatment.Movement and behavior disorders:
Video EEG is helpful in diagnosing episodic movement disorders and recurrent behavioral disturbances. Typical symptoms include temporary lack of reaction, increased distractibility, “freezing” during activities, and difficulty maintaining continuity of thought, which may manifest as forgetting the topic of a conversation. This examination is particularly useful for patients who are perceived by others as inattentive or who have difficulty concentrating.Rare seizure incidents:
Difficult to capture in traditional tests due to their short duration.Differentiation and identification of seizure incidents:
Determining whether seizures are of epileptic origin or non-epileptic.

Application of Video EEG
Benefits
of Video EEG at Home
Video EEG examination at the patient’s home takes place in the context of their daily life, allowing for a more accurate assessment of the neurological state in the patient’s natural environment.
Conducting the examination in the patient’s home environment minimizes stress and discomfort associated with visiting a medical facility, which is particularly important for individuals with anxiety disorders, young children, and those with mobility limitations.
The examination in the patient’s natural environment also allows for a more precise observation and recording of symptoms that may not occur in clinical conditions, enabling optimal technical quality of the recordings.

Preparation for Video EEG
at the patient's home
To obtain the most reliable results, it is important to ensure proper preparation before the examination. Below are the key steps to take before undergoing the EEG:
- Clean hair
The patient’s hair should be washed and dried before the examination to ensure optimal electrode contact with the scalp, which improves the accuracy of the measurements. - Health status concerning colds and typical infections
A cold, cough, or low-grade fever excludes the possibility of conducting the examination. If the patient has recently undergone antibiotic treatment, it is recommended to reschedule the examination for one week later. - Meal
The patient should not be hungry during the examination; it is advisable to eat a light, easily digestible meal beforehand. - Avoiding products containing caffeine
It is recommended to avoid products containing caffeine, such as coffee, tea, cola, or some over-the-counter medications on the day of the examination and the day before, as they may affect the results. - Avoid using hair cosmetics
On the day of the examination, the patient should avoid using hair styling products, such as gels, hairsprays, or oils, as they can interfere with the proper placement of electrodes on the scalp. - Taking regular medications
The patient should continue taking their regular medications unless otherwise advised by the doctor. Any changes in medication before the EEG should only be made after consultation with the doctor. - Comfortable clothing
It is advisable to wear comfortable clothing that does not put pressure on the head or neck, ensuring the patient feels comfortable during the examination. - Informing about any ailments
The patient should inform the staff conducting the examination about any ailments, such as a tendency to have seizures, skin allergies, or other relevant health issues. - Calm state of mind
Before the examination, it is recommended to avoid stress and ensure a calm state of mind, which can help achieve more stable results. - Medical documentation
Before the examination, the patient should prepare medical documentation containing relevant health information to be provided to the physician conducting the analysis of the EEG results.
Remember, every case is individual, so it is important to follow the recommendations of your attending physician and the medical staff conducting the examination.
If you have any questions before the visit, please contact the technician conducting the examination by phone or email using the contact details provided on our website.

Video EEG Examination
Standards and Assessment of
Examination Results
When conducting home-based Video EEG examinations, our staff adheres to the following principles and standards:
- Compliance with Clinical Standards
Although the Video EEG is conducted at home, it meets the same quality and accuracy standards as examinations performed in clinical settings. This includes both patient preparation procedures and the methodology for conducting the examination. - Personnel Qualifications
The individuals performing and evaluating the Video EEG examination possess the appropriate qualifications and experience. The neurophysiologist conducting the assessment holds a certification in electroencephalography from the Polish Society of Clinical Neurophysiology (PTNK). - Accuracy of Equipment
The equipment used for conducting Video EEG at the patient’s home is equally accurate and reliable as the equipment used in clinical settings. This includes electrodes, signal amplifiers, and software for EEG data acquisition and analysis. - Recording Standards
The Video EEG recording is conducted in accordance with internationally recognized standards, such as those defined by the International Federation of Clinical Neurophysiology (IFCN). This examination is available for both adults and children and can be performed during wakefulness with activations or during sleep. The study includes an appropriate duration and various states of wakefulness or sleep of the patient. - Individualization
The examination procedure is individually tailored to the specific needs of the patient. - Data Analysis and Interpretation
The Video EEG data is analyzed by an experienced neurophysiologist (doctor) certified by PTNK, specializing in EEG examination analysis. The interpretation of results takes into account not only the EEG recordings but also the patient’s medical history, current symptoms, and other relevant clinical information. - Reporting Results
The results of the Video EEG examination are accurately documented in a written report, which contains a detailed analysis of the EEG recordings, along with any recommendations for further diagnostics or treatment. - Data Confidentiality
All patient information and examination results are handled with the utmost confidentiality, in accordance with data protection laws and medical confidentiality. - Customization to the Patient’s Needs
The Video EEG examination at the patient’s home takes into account the individual needs of the patient, including any specific conditions related to their living environment.
The above standards ensure the reliability and effectiveness of the examinations.
Long-duration home-based Video EEG studies provide comprehensive electroencephalographic diagnostics.
